Cairns and Surroundings

In and around Cairns

Arrived in Cairns in the morning a quiet town in Queensland but one of the major tourist centers of Australia. From here many depart for the famous Barrier Reef..In the centre of Carins there is not really any swimming beaches but they are within walking distance.. The center is not very big but it has a lively nightlife in fact Cairns is famous for its wild nights. I did a  tour around Cairns then to Port Douglas and Cooktown.
Next destination Airlie Beach.

Airlie Beach

22/23 July 2001

Airlie Beach is a small town on the coast of Queensland and is considered the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands.
Everything here revolves around tourism and trips to these beautiful islands.  Airlie Beach is a small but has lots of life and a very lively nightlife.
I only stayed a few days  in this location and after Airlie Beach I'll go back to Melbourne, a long journey where I intend to rest up and spend time with my friends.   All those hours in the bus is going to be very tireing!!!!!!!!

Port Stephens

October 2001

A few months later I went back to Sydney and had the opportunity to take some photos at night.. From Sydney I visited Newcalstle again where I met other friends and together we went to Port Stephens which is located about an hour's drive from Newcastle.  Port Stephens is famous for its dolphins, in fact there are many tours that will take you to see these beautiful sea mammals and they will come up to see you, very friendly.  Here the  Dolphins seemed to have found a permanent home. I return to Melbourne and on 23 November I will return to Italy and it will be the end of this beautiful Australian adventure!!!!
